Introduction to Statistics & Probability
Statistics is the branch of mathematics that deals with organization, analysis and interpretation of data. The processed and analysed data helps in making decisions and predictions. The British statisticians Francis Galton and Karl Pearson are the pioneers of the statistics field for their contributions.
The set of data is plotted on graphs using points between its two axes. The points on the graph when joined makes lines which gives clues how data is distributed with highest frequency of occurring data at the peak of graphs. The other information that a graph provides is the mean, median and mode of the data.
Probability in mathematics helps in finding out how probable an event is that it will happen. There can be uncertainty that the event will happen. Such uncertainty can be measured in probability, whether there are 100% or 0% chances for the event to happen.
