Introduction
Polynomial is an algebraic expression which involves variables with a power of whole numbers. Many mathematicians worked on algebra in different periods of time. The father of algebra Al-Khwarizmi and his scholar Al-Karaji, both worked on algebra and introduced the theory of polynomials. They developed systematic rules which could solve practical problems of algebra without using geometry.
Al-Samawal, another mathematician, continued Al-Karaji's work on polynomials. He developed all arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division on polynomials. The French mathematician François Viète was the first to introduce algebraic notations and solve complex algebraic expressions.
